Throughout the sessions you will have the opportunity to ask questions, there will be an open conversation allowing you to connect with other families and share your experiences. The course is designed to support you while navigating the complexities of autism with confidence and ease. You will also receive an 'Understanding Autism Pack' full of useful aids and printouts. The sessions include Week one: Introduction to Autism Week two: Sensory issues Week three: Effective communication Week four: Anxiety Week five: Supporting children with self-regulation Week six: Sleep education In the sessions the following topics will be covered: - Understand what are Social Communication Difficulties and Autism - Identifying general strategies to support development - A different way of processing information, different way of thinking, different way of interpreting information - What is their world like? - Sensory processing differences - Anxiety and Autism - Communication differences - Social Interactions - How to Support Communication - Autism and Behaviour - What is behaviour that challenges? - What difficulties might occur - Differences & behaviour - Understanding Behaviour/self-regulation - Strategies for working with individuals with Autism - Possible solutions - Sleep workshop presentation Understanding Autism Pack - Copy of all powerpoints - Workbook The Teams link for the sessions will be sent once within 24 hours of booking. Once booking is complete you will see a link to fill out a form titled 'About your child' I recommend completing this form as soon as you have booked a service. This is so I can get an idea of what to expect for our session and prepare all relevant materials.
